CAI modifications/problems
I just got the AEM V2 CAI and the AEM bypass valve. I heard I need to modify/cut something to make it fit. What do I cut and where? The airbox and resonator chamber are the only things that come out right? Will it also fit if I have a Cusco upper front strut bar? Have these CAI's been known to cause any problems or anything abnormal with our cars?
Just finished my V2 last weekend the only cutting modifying is the entrance to the front bumper area, you will need to cut to allow access to this area. My dremel was my best friend that day. Do yourself a favor and remove your bumper first.
Oh btw nothing abnormal just louder up top no cel and such. At vtec it get's quite a bit louder otherwise not much louder under 6k. The best thing is it really doesn't feel like I lost any power anywhere. AEM did their homework.
you don't have to remove the bumper, you just need to remove the front passenger side wheel and you'll have plenty of room. Do a search and there are lots of useful step by step photo instructions that helped me. I also hear you lose a little power w/ the bypass valve. You don't need it anyway, you plan on driving into a lake? Just cover the drain hole under the hood and put a "umbrella" over the filter just in case. Other than that the AEM makes a huge difference in the sound of the car, it's the best sound!
