IMO 2 part epoxy caliper paint works best. You can brush it on neatly with an artists' brush, and it lasts forever. With two coats, it rivals powder coating.
Maybe found at race/sports car parts supplier. I know Eastwood's has it, but that would involve shipping.
Pep Boys/ Autozone sell spray hi-temp caliper paint. Some have even used engine enamel too.
You have to mask the bejesus out of the calipers to do a neat job spraying, or you can spray it into the can's cap and brush it on.
It is not as "self-leveling" as the epoxy however, so I found it hard to get a smooth finish using the 'brush' method.
I've had good luck so far with the VXI caliper paint from Autozone. I didn't mask, I just sprayed into a paper cup and applied with small acid brushes. If you do it this way, just make sure you have plenty of light and take your time. If you work a small section, it seems to level fine.
Make sure you try to get the caliper as clean as possible before you start painting so the paint has a good surface to adhere to. You can use brake cleaner (be careful and don't get it on painted surfaces), or even some simple green and a brush and some elbow grease. Good luck!
I have had the G2 on now for a couple years and it is time for a touch up. I got the brakes so hot on the track (I went through the factory pads within 100 miles)that the paint actually burned and then flaked off when I hit the calipers with a stream of water. It is very durable for street use and the track if you don't overheat the brakes.
Am definitely thinking abouit painting the calipers on my MY05. I have seen some references to putting the car up on stands to do this. Why? Is it just a convenience issue or is there some compelling reason to jack up the car? Thank you.
