Calling all Spa/Rio Yellow & Formula Red S2k owners...
I've been driving for over 34 years with no tickets to my name and never having a radar detector. I find that the Spa does attract attention from everyone on the road. I, also, have no front license plate in a state that requires one. I have never had any problems with the police. Just as others have said before, if you drive it like you stole it, you're asking for the attention you don't want. Live a little and go for the eye catching color.
I don't know about tickets, since I hardly ever get pulled over (knock on wood)...but you WILL attract wanted and unwanted attention.
It was the same with my Phoenix Yellow ITR. Fortunately, thieves liked the yellow on the ITR more than the S.

Don't the police in the T.O. have better things to do?
I haven't had my SPA on the road long enough to comment, but I had a Velocity Red RX8, twice I was "eyed" Once going to Montreal, the cop was waiting on the side of the highway, TONS of cars blew by me then by him, yet when he saw me he immediatly pulled out! Was I ever pissed off, he got beside me and started to pace me! I just waved and hammered the breaks HAHAHA.
One other time, I came out of a mall parking lot, the cop was in there for awhile how convenient that he followed me half way to work.
I'd still like to know what was going on in that first cops head, maybe he just liked the car, but it certainly seemed like he was pacing for ticket funds. I was going 107 in a 100 zone!

I think a sports car is something one buys due to the emotion attached to the automobile. As such, the color of that car is more important than the color of one van or family sedan.
I have owned numerous sports cars and the color of each was very important to me.
300ZX TT...red
Supra TT...white
NSX..........Black on Black
Miata......Blue
S2k (MY04)...Rio Yellow
When purchasing the S2k, the dealer had a beautiful red on the lot that I could pick up but while I did like the red a lot I just waited three weeks for the Rio and now I feel that I did the right thing. Each one of us have a color for a particular car that we think fits it best and when buying a fun car=sports car, we should do as our emotions dictate and not what the cops might find more interesting.

Just like FormulaRX, I've struggled with my choice for awhile as well. I think the yellow and the red make the S look the hottest (white and black are right behind). Problem is, my family has owned 4 white Hondas in recent year (2 of which are mine, all 4 of which are STILL in the family somewhere). While I love white cars, I don't think we need another, and I think the S deserves something hotter. After owning our black 00 Civic Si, I'll never own another black car if I can help it. While I keep my cars clean, I just don't have the time needed to make a black car look great. So that leaves red and yellow.
My opinion has always been that a sports car should be red. Every once in a while you get a car that red just doesn't fit. The best color for the TT Supra was definately white. So red it is for me. Now if I can just find an '04 in red to check out the new bumpers... Anyone with pics? How 'bout an '04 red with the front lip?
I say go for the hot colors. The cops can't catch you anyway, can they?

I went through the same decision when I was buying. I was pretty torn between red and white, but when it came down to it, being 23 in an S it seemed that white was the smarter choice. Another big factor was the interior color; I just love the red interior and I wouldn't have had that on the red S.
Hmmm... if avoiding having to clean the car often is one of your reasons you might as well skip yellow right now. I too thought it would be better than black but any amount of dirt immediatley dulls the brilliance of the yellow. I've noticed non owners and even S2000 owners of other colors don't notice it that much, but as an owner you will see the dirt and grime immediately. OTOH, the S is the first car I've owned that washing doesn't feel like a chore.
