Default Can anyone identify this CAI?

Hi. Almost a new owner here. I'm picking up a silver '03 this weekend. The previous owner has installed a CAI. Can anyone identify the manufacturer? And.. can anyone give me a realistic number as to how this affects horsepower?
Thanks a lot!

It's a RM Racing one.

It appears from the picture that the filter is not enclosed and is exposed to the engine bay temps. Once things get hot under there, I would give it a MINUS (-) 20 HP rating.

I wondered about that. The intake piping feeds into the front bumper. I couldn't see the end of it when I was checking out the car. Shouldn't there be a filter on the end of the intake piping rather than in the middle? Or, are there two?

Gotta admit it looks cool, but I'm jerkin' that sucker out of there if it all show and no go.

There is no filter at the end of the pipe. It doesn't need another one. That filter you have draws air from both the outer surface and inner filter area, too. If you take it off, you will see what I mean.

That's not funny! Well... yeah, it is.

So what's the point of exposing the filter to engine bay temps, but drawing cold air in from outside the engine bay?

Every other intake I'm familiar with locates the intake and filter away from the engine?

I had K&N's FIPK installed on my old car (Mitsu 3000GT) and I can confirm a slight boost in performance even though the exposed filter was still in the engine bay.

Is this RM Racing intake a showy piece of crap? btw, the filter looks different than in the pictures I've seen of other RM Racing intakes, and I noticed they logo their equipment. I don't see their logo in my pics.

Could this be "like" an RM Racing intake rather than one of theirs?

I can't say for sure that this is an RM intake, but if it is, RM Racing was one of the very first companies that marketed stuff for the S2000. It was from RM nearly 5 years ago, that I bought my first mod for my S. I think back then, anything for an S was a novelty and underhood temps wasn't a priority. Many other much better intakes have come along since. Those who marketed the older intakes just never bothered to change anything.
