Good piece. "massively superior" has kind of a nice ring to it . It's interesting that some of the prior-to-'04 owners here that have test driven the new car say the steering is way less sharp. It seems to me that every article I've read says the opposite. My theory is that the people that are claiming a dropoff in sharpness are mistaking the decrease in boost for less precision. They feel a heavier wheel (especially at lower speeds where the prior S was extremely overboosted), and somehow think it's not as sharp because it takes more effort to turn the wheel. Sure, the steering ratio is slightly greater now but it's a minor change. Personally I'd gladly take a little heft in the wheel for a better road feel any day.

I have to wonder if "massively superior" is a bit exaggerated, because on paper, it seems the differences are rather minor. Not having drove the '04, though, I'll defer to those here who have. Is there really a "massive" difference?

Of course not. It's just the same as some of the people here on the board saying the old car is far superior.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the U.K. mags always seemed to denigrate the original S2K-- almost as if they held some sort of premeditated grudge.

Where was the '03 S2000 in Car magazine's recent ranking of the best cars? Something like #85? When the Mini Cooper S was #2, just under the *Enzo*??

Granted, the '04 has notable improvements and might very well be the superior overall car. But give me a &#@*$! break.

Wow.....I guess one magazine= all UK publications.

If you make broad sweeping statements like that.......Yes ALL UK magazines hate your car....but only your car. They love the 04 w/f22c1 and are pissed they can't get it there......

So they still hate your car.
