Can a hardtop installation kit be transferred from one S to another?

Need to know the vin#. MY00 has a break in the vin for needing Kit-A to install the top assuming you want the rear defroster to work. Hardtop install should take about an hour.

What's the difference in numbers below the break VIN vs. those above? Different kit?

Yeah, different kits. PM Hardtop guy for info on the kits. He did the hartop install for me and then I did this install of Kit-A. Wasn't too hard and was my first time ripping my car apart, but only took me about 2 hours.

At least I know if I ever sell my car, I can put it back to stock form and sell the hardtop seperate.

If you leave all the parts on your 01 and have to start from scratch be prepared for a $5-600 parts bill. Take them off your self. If you only want to take a couple parts off at least get the two rear receiving brackets located nest to the seats. They are about $200 each.

$500?? Are there parts that aren't included with the install kit for the hardtop? I don't understand if the kit costs $150 where the extra $350 is coming from?

Just buy the complete and correct kit from Jeff at Ganley (Hardtopguy)

There is a difference between low number MY00 (somewhere in the low 6000 range) and high number MY00 kits. High number MY00 and MY01 kits are the same. The kit runs a little over $200 the last time I checked.

Paul is correct. Kit-A does not include mounting hardware for the hardtop those come with the top if you leave them on the car you will have to purchase that also in addition to the Kit-A.
