Deb don't know if you've tried it, but get a can of Plexus and use that on the rear window, it works miracles. It's the only thing I use on my plastic rear window and it makes me very happy.

Yes, the enitre top needs to be changed out. If you look closely, the frame is different on the 00-01 when compared to 02+.

If you have the money, definitely consider it...

Having owned an 01 with the plastic window and now I have an 02 with the glass, the glass is so much better IMO. Less worries and maintenance, I can look at my rear view mirror and see everything clearly, no lines running through it. Then again, with proper maintenance, the plastic will look as good as new. Just gotta take care of it.

If the plastic window is in bad shape it can be restored using a number of products. I drove my car without a MuzMat for a few months and got some scratches on the inside. Scratch Out by Kit is normally used on paint but can be used on clear plastic (it says so on the label). I had great results with this. For more moderate damage, Meguir's plastic polishes are great (numbers 10 and 17, I think). Plexus or Honda Pro Plastic Polish are more for maintenance of the window after restoration.

billo is right, Meguair's #17 and #10 work wonderfully! I couldnt believe my eyes after the treatment, I also used plexus on weekly cleaning. ("Meguair" it once per month)
I had my car for a yr and the rear window looks better than new

How are the Meguair and Plexus compare to the Honda rear window plastic care?
