Default Can I use the Car cover outside??

Hey Folks,

Well, I bought Zaino and as a courtesy I clay bar'd, pre-polished and polished my fiance's 2000 Celica. After about 4 hours I was done and I cannot wait to do my S next. Anyway, this is not why I am posting here. We have a one car garage and you know my S has been there since we moved here 6 weeks ago. Well, when I was done her car she was so excited by the way it looked she asked if she could keep it in the garage tonight. I told her she could so poor "Gloria" (My S2k's name) has to be outside in the cold. I checked the weather forecast for tonight and it's supposed to be clear with low's around 38. So, the question is...Can I keep my OEM Honda Dust Cover on the car outside overnight or should I not even bother due to possible condensation or whatever else???? Hopefully, I can convince her that Gloria must stay in the garage but for tonight at least she's out in the cold. Thanks for your help friends.

There are indoor car covers and outdoor car covers. I don't have a Honda car cover or any cover for that matter. Does the box the cover came in say? I think that indoor covers can "breath". Outdoor ones cannot because they have to keep out rain. If you are not expecting rain or dew, then I don't see why you couldn't use the Honda one (in case it's an indoor one). If it's gonna rain or go below the dew point, you're better off to just let the car sit naked just in case the Honda cover is NOT meant for outdoors.

Thanks for the advice. Weather is clear tonight and seeing that it's late I think I'll just leave it on. Although, in the future I might just leave it off. As you mentioned, it is designed for indoors or covered areas. I don't have the packaging it came in so I'm not sure what it said specifially. Hopefully, I can convince my fiance tommorow that the S needs to be back in her bedroom (garage) if you catch my drift. Thanks for you response again.

Hi (ho) Silver

I live in the UK and have a OEM US Honda car caver. It is esentially a dust cover for indoor use, but I have used mine quite a few times outdoors when the forcast is for no rain/no wind. (i anly use it on a freshly cleaned car) It does a great job on cold frosty nights (you get some frost on the cover, but 10 mins in the tumble drier, its as good as new again.

This post is probably a bit late for you, but I guess it may help in the future

ianl-

thanks for the post! I did use it last night and it seemed to work fine. My car is always very clean so I am certain that in the rare instance it's not that I don't use the cover. As well, I agree it is generally an indoor cover and if I am forced (by the fiance) to keep the S outside in the future I'm just going to go ahead and get a weather cover for use in the rain and wind. Thanks again!

Silver and Trigger

No Problem-

Based on the US board concensus, I have just ordered a Covercraft Weathersheild cover from www.autoanything.com (good price!). S2000 owners in the US seem to generally agree that this is the best all weather cover - near waterproof, breathable and very light (less scratching risk) and compact (easier to cary in the car and wash in the home washing machine than the OEM cover).

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the Zaino on your S2000 - I bought a whole bunch of Zaino products whilst in the States earlier this year - I just havent found the time necessary to do the job properly yet!

Thanks for the tip! I checked out their site and as soon as I can scrounge up $250 I think I'll go ahead and make that purchase. It's worth keeping your car mint even if it has to sit out in the elements at times. thanks....

you can as long as moisture doesn't form on you car over night. If it does, it just passes right through the cover and leaves the car looking more dirty than if you had left the cover off. I use it all the time when it won't be subject to wet conditions and it's perfectly fine.

The Honda OEM is a great cover but it will rot and tear after two years of being outdoors. As it gets older the white fleece lining will start to shed lint and will need to be hosed off the black top.

It is the best for use indoors.
