Default Can release clutch while in gear

Hello I went on a drive in my S2K, driving normally then I went for a down shift from 4th to 3rd and the car revd as of it was in neutral. I didn’t money shift and I didn’t hear any noise as it happened. Then every gear felt like neutral and the car doesn't move. Now with the car on I can shift through gears without engaging the clutch, I hear a slight hissing sound when I press the clutch. I recently changed the CMC and bled the clutch. Do I need to do a clutch job ?

Sounds like a slipping clutch

Did you set the preload on the new master cylinder so that it has 6mm of freeplay? When pressing the clutch pedal, it should have 6mm (1/4") of slop before you feel resistance.

If you have 0 freeplay, its an issue. You are always slipping the clutch in that case.

Another question is why you changed the clutch hydraulics in the first place? What issue was there to prompt that?

after the incident happened the clutch adjuster rod became very hard to adjust and the clutch pedal became very stiff no free play. I replaced the cmc bc it was leaking anyway and I felt maybe bc it got so stiff that was the route of the problem. The clutch now has good free play but still same problem persists

It does sound like you need a new clutch disc.

How many miles on the clutch disc and pressure plate?

You probably need a clutch.
I typically use Hondaautomotiveparts.com

Disc
Pressure plate
Guide sleeve
Release bearing
Pilot bearing
Urea grease

It has caged springs, so it should work fine.

You still want to buy the release guide and urea grease from Honda, however.

You'll know your flywheel condition when you get in there. If you need one, a factory AP1 or an ACT are good options

is a new release guide absolutely necessary?

Does this "hissing" go away when you release the clutch pedal? It sounds like a possible throw-out-bearing noise.

Be sure to get a new one when you do the clutch.
