Can the s2k take a beating?
^Damn nice!! I've been nervous to launch my car. Still have not launched it once having it almost 4 years now lol. I am boosted now so would be even more nervous of breaking it though.
*You can see by my avatar, that I decided to retire the S from autocross duty while it is still in one piece.
Yeah I'm sure I could get them spinning easy being I have 400whp so I'm sure a 5k launch or so would get the job done. I spin in first gear by redline just accelerating off the line.
Nice that thing must be a blast!!

The s2000 is a very reliable sports car, but driving it hard everyday and getting 200k out of it... I just don't know. If anyone has those kind of miles and can attest to the fact that they drive hard everyday, please speak up. I just don't see that happening, despite the fact that the s2000 is a very reliable car... I think that's asking too much. If you baby it, could you get 200k? Probably.

(not without an engine rebuild).
I could be wrong, but I just don't see an abused high-reving engine lasting that long (even a Honda).

Actually, I know a guy that owns a MY00, who is at 187k, who tracks the car 15-20 times a year.

Right and no doubt that puts a strain on the car, but is that equivalent to riding your car hard everyday as a daily driver? I doubt this guy is driving it that hard when he's on normal roads (assuming he drives it on the open road at all). Remember, we're talking about driving your car hard, every day, 5 days a week, shifting at 6.5-9k all the time, accelerating hard at each red light. That's probably worse than tracking your car 20 times a year (depending on the durations of each race). I'm not saying he won't see 200k (but the odds are against it), remember the OP question was will an s2000 regularly pass 200k with hard driving everyday and tracking?
I don't think people should be telling the OP that if he daily drives it hard and tracks it he'll still get 200k out of the engine. I think the odds are against in him that situation. On the other hand if he drives it hard just sometimes, could he get 200k out of the engine. Sure.
The S2000 is just a car like most other cars out there (a lot more fun tho, and more track suited). Cars aren't built to last forever, cars break.
I drive my S2000 quite hard, have tracked it three times so far (running 15min sessions with cooling down laps, breaks inbetween, etc.). I bought it with 60'000km and now it has 80'000km. I service the car regularly and like it should be.
I've replaced a clutch and the rear diff since. The car feels "used" compared to when i bought it. It still runs fine, but you can definately feel the hard driving it had to put up with.
Make no mistakes here, it's just a car, and it'll break if you drive it hard.
People on here will mostly tell you otherwise tho, because we love our cars.
