Default Can Seats Be Removed with Hardtop On?

I have my hardtop pretty much permanently mounted with Izzy-type brackets, so taking off the hardtop is inconvenient, and something I would like to avoid if possible...

That said, I have been thinking about installing Clazzio seat covers, and it is my understanding that it is best to remove the seats to install the covers...

Is there enough room/clearance in the car with the OEM hardtop installed to get the seats out of the car?

Is it just 4 bolts (one on each corner), and yank it out? Are there any wiring harnesses to worry about?

How tight a fit is it with the hardtop on? Does it come out easily (even though it's a tight fit)? Or is there a lot of rubbing and compressing of the seat and bolster cushions to get the seat out of the vehicle?

Depending on the model year there are sensors on the bottom of the seats. Driver's side should have a seat belt sensor at least.

You can get the Clazzio's on tighter with the seats out of the car, you can do it with them in the car but I think it is a better installation with them out of the car. Be careful with the seat rails, they are sharp and will scratch things up if they hit any part of the vehicle.

I like pulling them out with the hardtop off, easier to lift up from above. Lift them up a bit, and then turn them and go through the door openings. Maybe cover the rails with some towels for added protection.

Depending on year, there may be a sensor under the seat to unplug. It's easy. That said, removing the seats with the hard top on is doable, but will be a major PIA. You risk banging up your interior and paint as you try to wrestle them in and out.

Trying to put brand new Clazzios on w/o removing your seats however would be an even bigger PIA. Once the covers are broken in, they can be removed and put back on easily w/o removing the seats. Good luck!

you can, just be careful when actually taking them out. It's tight and easy to scratch panels with the seat rails
