Can the stook take a TT in a straight line.??
I have to say... I was sitting at a red light today and an Audi TT pulled up next to me. I wasn't interested in racing but apparantly he was. The TT accelerated rapidly and was away. I was impressed. Now I don't believe in drag racing as I don't think that the S2000 was designed for that. However, I must say I was impressed with the TT's acceleration. Any thoughts.

What if your s2000 was twice as quick as the TT. Would U be happy! It seems that U was not interested to go head to head with the TT. That is the only way to find out. Anyway people just don't go blasting ever car on planet to find out if the s2000 is the quickest roadstar, and believe me it is not. Anyway its all hype and most people on this web site don't push their s2000 to the limit anyway to find out the car's true characteristics at 9000 +rpm. There are too much faults with the current model for me to be dreaming about 0 -60 times, s2000 Vs TT or Z3 M coupe.
For me the S2000 is the best value for money when underlying performance and thats it.

Could be a modified TT? When those TT are equipped with a after market chip, they can go 280HP something like that, if my memory serves me right without go check with my Quattro magazine.
Now, I am just waiting to see anyone going to have a Honda S2000 chip, because I thing I am too stupid to tune the car myself with a VTEC controller.

Perry, I heard some other forum members describing the TT as a Beetle on Crack!!
How funny is that?!!
If you mod any turbo car, of course it is going to be faster than what it is stock. Turbo's respond better to mods.
Although, back in Australia, I raced a friend with a '99 WRX (much lighter than the '01 WRX). He had HKS exhaust, intake, boost controller, blow off valve and stock wheels etc...
I had my CRX Hybrid (B16A vtec/LSD/lightened interior etc) which had 17" wheels. DavidM and I have also run my car against his MR2 (he didn't last long). David seems to think that my CRX was about 6.5 0-100kmh, which equates to 6.2 0-60. I think that he is underestimating the speed that my CRX had, but I'm not going to start that argument now
. Anyway, this WRX and my CRX had a race up to 110kmh and believe it or not, my car was fractionally ahead (and making ground) on him at that point. At the start, I got wheelspin and didn't go anywhere, and he bogged down.....so that made us equal. When we both hooked up, we were right beside each other...so nobody had the advantage there. I just pulled away from him there ever so marginally.
Similarly, with my '96 RX7 SP that I had before the CRX, I would easily catch heavily modded WRX's on the track - especially on the straights. It was almost like reeling in a fish - it was SOOOOO fun!
My old CRX:

The TT can be fast, and with the AWD, it is going to get better starts, but R&T or Motortrend(?) tested the Boxter S, TT Quattro, S2000 and SLK 3.2 and the Boxter S and S2000 were at the top of the list in accelleration. I think the TT was a second slower 0-60. And, the S2000 had a better lap time even more so than the Boxter S!
So, with the S2000, I'm not particularly worried if I have to run against another car in a drag race. I have nothing to prove. If I win, I win. If I lose, I lose. No big deal. I know where the real strengths of my car lie. The S2000 is great with in-gear accelleration though, and handling. Handling is where real car and driver ability shine through. Coincidentally, that's where your TT driver will lose his nerve and shy away! He can keep his baseball glove leather interior and bettle-on-crack look, I've got my 'start' button and 9000rpm redline!!!
Those two little things are all I need to signify my intentions to the rest of the world!
(middle finger extended to all wannabe's who think the S2000 is "juz' a civic"). Boy, they have a LOT to learn!

Well, the TT has more torque and off the line, it's no slouch. But I have never run one off the line. I did run one on the highway one day. Shamed him pretty good, he just couldn't keep up. I think he was kinda pissed, actually...
