Seriously thinking about the s2k but would definitely not be able to afford another car if I got it. Live in toronto and have 4 month winters here. Would it be a serious no no to attempt this?

I live in Toronto and I personally would not drive my car in the winter and would not recommend that anyone else do it. The car can be a handful in the rain, I can only imagine that it would be a lot worse in the snow. That said, I think that some people in the northern US have slapped on Blizzak winter tires, as well as something heavy in the trunk, and have gotten through the winter(s) unscathed.

Aside from the safety concerns, however, do you really want all that salt eating away at your car?

More concerned about the salt than the control. Really, it's only a problem late dec to late march. Maybe I could just rent a car when I needed to in the winter. Anyone else know of any other solutions.

Thing is I really don't want to compromise mods just to buy a second car.

I think you should worry about control since the car's tires dramatically deteriotes in cold weather. Therefore, you will not like driving your car about 6 months in the year in TO.

Buy a second car like a beater civic and you will be super happy.

Trust me on this one. The S2K is undrivable in the cold weather.

I'm sure you can put winter tires on the 16" rims to battle the cold issue. can you not?

You can find a beater for about 1000 bucks that has heat. Drive that in the winter. You have a few months to save for it too.

I'll be buying a beater to driver every now and then son I don't rack up so many miles on my S2000. It prob won't have AC so it will be my winter car.

Half the guys I knew who drove modified Del Sol's in Canada would store them in the winter. They would buy a $500 83 Honda civic of the winter.

So rack on a set of 18s, only take it out april to november, and drive a civic the rest of the year?

I suppose I could do that...or move south...or just go with the rsx

We don't get much snow here, but if we did , much as I love this car I think I'd have to get something else or as the guys say a beater! We'd say a nail!
