Default This car is awesome......but

I just picked up my MY03 Saturday!! On my way home, about 30 miles, the check engine light comes on So I turn around, head back to the dealer, and he tells me about the gas cap thing about having to tighten it or this may happen. I remember reading about it in the manual so I'm cool with that explanation. The service dept. was closed so the sales manager calls in a tech to reset the check engine light. In about a half hour I'm off. On Sunday, I wake up, go outside, wash my car and take off to a friend's house and about 5 miles into the ride, the F@%$#in light comes on again Since it's Sunday, the dealership's not open so I called and left a voicemail for the sales and service dept. to call me ASAP. The car sat on the lot for about 2 months in the snow and the service tech told me the first time I brought it back that they moved it around a couple of times over the winter and the plugs fouled out so they replaced them on Friday, the day before I picked up my car. Anyone have this sort of problem or have any ideas? By the way, if this car wasn't so sweet, I'd probably be alot more pi$$ed off.

I only have 150 miles total! Yes I checked the oil and it was perfect. I'm pretty sure it's something minor too, but is pretty frickin'

Something is fishing if that's what they told you. These cars sit undriven for months all over the place all the time without needing the plugs changed. Maybe they goofed up something when they changed the plugs.

When your CEL came on the first time, they should have scanned for the error code before resetting the CEL. That's what they'll do tomorrow.

Having a dealer change the plugs is a scary prospect in itself. Many stories abound of dealer's bungling this simple job. Wrong torque, wiring harness not clipped on to the coil pack properly and on and on.
Like Barry said, something is not right here. Plugs do not normally foul on a new car even if stored all winter.

Well, the service dept. called me today at 7:55. I had them come pick it up and leave me a loaner and I would come get it after work. I don't get out 'til 3:45 and the dealer is about 50 miles away and I wanted it fixed today. They came at about 10:00 and I told the guy I haven't broken it in yet so please keep it under 5000 rpms. he was middle age and seemed pretty trustworthy (I hoped). Anyways, they called me back at abot 2:00 and said my car was ready! Good news! It turned out to be a vacuum line that was knocked off during the plug change. That's what they told me anyway. Anyhow, I'm back to .Thanks all for your replies.

How the heck can the plugs get fouled? Unless they put something other than gasoline in the fuel tank, the plugs shouldn't ever get fouled unless something is wrong with the engine! I would find out everything you can about this, what caused it, how they diagnosed it, how they fixed it, how much it cost, etc. At a minimum, they should give you an extended warranty for free. If it's more than a certain amount and they didn't tell you before you bought it, you may have legal options to get them to buy it back from you for the selling price.

Rajun asian, do yourself a favor and go down to any auto parts depot, by yourself an OBDII code scanner. Next time the light comes on, plug it in under the dash and retrieve the codes yourself. It will tell you a code plus what circuit or system is at fault. Even if it's a little greek to you, you'll be able to do a visual check yourself, and this way the dealer can't bullshit you.
