Default Car died this morning! :(

Car is 05 close to 30k

Never had a problem...drove it to the store last night okay

This morning, turned the key and as it went to ON the dash lights came on and flashed off instantly. Start button does nothing. Radio does not come on

Had to ride my bike to work (not that bad, actually)

Since im still sitting at work, can someone throw some suggesions to try when i get home?

10k ago when i checked the terminals, it was squeaky clean!!!

if a new battery is needed, everyone recommend going OEM, optima, or generic?

arent most batteries guaranteed for 5+ years? this is a 2YO car!!!!!!!!!

do you have a custom stereo/amp?

ive had issues with other cars when the amps caused the terminals to spark every time the car started. over time, the inner terminal connection became a big chunk of corrosion.

but this is almost always a battery/terminal connection type issue. and its usually corrosion (and on the posts/connectors), not the battery itself.

If the power just went out like that, potentially a fuse? Worth a look.

well my voltmeter gives me a good DC*V reading, so maybe a connection got shorted somewhere? but then the horn does sound but very very very weak

terminals look good but ill clean them now

a fully charged car battery should read 12.6v if it is only 12 then your battery is low

Check the ampherage. My last battery was only a couple years old, when charged would show 12-14v but super low amps when it died. Unless you have a lot of stereo stuff the oem one is the best.
