Default Car & Driver - S2000 one of the Ten Best, Again!

I don't know if this was posted already but Car & Driver has again chosen the S2000 as one of its ten best cars!

They threw in a picture of someone driving a Sebring Silver too just to let us know that they did drive it again and didn't just go on last years effort!

Nice to hear of somebody giving the car a fair report, rather than badge snobbery clouding judgement.

Cool That makes it a hat trick (3 for 3 - every year on the 10 Best). Here are their words:

"All our 10Best cars provide great satisfaction for demanding drivers, but they typically couple this capability with some combination of luxury, value, or payload-carrying capacity. The one exception to this rule is the Honda S2000. This is a pure sports car - extra virgin, first pressing.

From its overachieving engine, which revs to 8900 rpm and develops 120 horsepower per liter - more than any other naturally aspirated engine on the market - to a tenacious suspension that feels most comfortable when subjected to the rigors of the racetrack, the S2000 is all about going fast when the road gets twisty.

That said, there is great satisfaction to be had from the S2000 even at a more sedate pace. The shifter moves with the precision of the bolt in a fine rifle, the brakes define our notion of perfect linearity, and the howl of the engine when the VTEC shifts to the high-rpm cams above six grand is to die for.

Just don't expect to transport more than your significant other and a couple of backpacks. And make sure he or she is prepared to be shaken and stirred."

Quoted from Car and Driver, January 2002.

Its pretty funny, but I must have good taste in cars

I currently have a 2002 WRX that I use as my "beater"... No beating on it yet, but I feel safe leaving it where ever I park...

before that, I had the S2000.... lots of fun, but far to flashy to be forced to sit as eye candy at the park and ride...

before that, I had a C5 Corvette... fantastic, but it was not a ragtop
