Default car hitting rev limiter way too early???

Any one ever experience this? Three times now (2 in the rain once one a beautiful day) my car has seemed to bounce of the rev limiter. The 2 times in the rain were at very low RPM's and the car almost seemed like it was sputtering or a cylinder cutting out. This morning one a hard, straight pull the motor acted just like it has when its bounced off the rev limiter at 9k but it happened at 7. I've checked everything obvious under the hood and cant find anything amiss. Any ideas?

btw, the car is totally stock.

thanks!

This has happened to me before in first gear pulling out of work (luckily noone was around to see) and it sounds like your problem as well?

Very harsh rev limiter. I didn't know about it until I tried to take off in my brother's Prelude. The H22 does it too.

wow, I didn't know about the rev limiter engaging at 7k when not warmed up... interesting, what a great safety feature. As far the water in the ignition problem, anyone know how I can check?

Oh no! Another one... I remember a post like this a few month ago...

Ok, stay driving that way, maybe your car will last at 10K miles if you are lucky..

It's only common sense. Let it warm.

One thought on the low rpm stuttering ... you do realize that in the rain 1st (and sometimes 2nd) will *spin* the tires? I find that full throttle in 1st on wet pavement will always break the tires loose, which causes a very unsmooth acceleration and rpm change. Usually this happens form me in VTEC. I'm wondering if this is what you're experiencing.
