Default CAR magazine (top 100) S2000 just barely in at #87

Hope this isn't too much of a re-post (sorry if it is)

#87 Honda S2000:
Best 4 pot engine in the world plus a lovely gearbox and unbustable build quality. If the snappy chassis was more forgiving it would be perfect
GOOD: The engine
Bad: Hedges, backwards.

Is it that un-forgiving? I mean it's no Mini but come on. I haven't thrown it into the shrubs yet. (knock on wood).

Anyway it's an old design and the list is a bit of crap anyway because they're all over the diesel cars.

Here's where we rank #87 just ahead of #88 hyundai coupe 2.7L (I guess it's a Tib).

Other notables:
1) 911 tt
2)Mini Cooper S
3) Enzo (I know beaten by a british car)
4)Gallardo
6)360Modena
7)330d (diesel) well ahead of M3 (#19)
11)EVO
15)Focus RS
16)Boxster S
26)crossfire
33) Elise 135(hp)
43) NSX
43)Audi TT V6
46)M5
64) Saab 9-3 cab

Oh well. I thought it was bad to be off the C&D "10 best" list.

The Brits just seem to have something against the S2000. I hear Top Gear is the only reviewer that really raves about it.

The CAR rankings are all f-ed up, but such is the challenge when the category is so broad. I mean, top 100 cars. In a weird way, it makes some sense.

Take it with a grain of salt. At least it's better reading than any of the other US mags. My personal favs are evo and DUB magazine.

Car magazine base in England. There journalist are some what bias against cars from Japan. Mini cooper s at number 2???? I know why, cause it a British, owned by BMW. Audi tt and Saab 9-3 cab ahead of S2k, that just don't seem right.

OK, it's a british magazine. That DOES explain things. The Brits are the same ones that put together the top 100 music artist of all time and rated the SPICE GIRLS as number one. They even put their own Beatles at 10 or 12.

I wouldn't worry. Being snubed by a snotty magazine is an honor in my book.

well just to let you guys know.....in topgear magazine...they have the cool list 2003 this month....

the s2000 is at 47.....this is what they said "the long bonnet gives the impression of having been strectched taut over the engine and front wheels, like a sheet of rubber. The engine revs to a million rpm and it sounds like a racing car.Get past the point when the VTEC systems switches to "manic" and all hell is let loose. These are all good things in a two seater. the dash might be an 80's disaster - some of its digital for petes sake - but otherwise, the S2000 is a belter. A cool choice in a sometimes cheesy market"

no 46 was the m3 csl

no 45 was the NSX

no 44 ford mustang 66 fastback

no 43 dodge charger

no 27 honda jazz

no 26 mx-5

no 14 rx-8

no 7 350z
