Default Car was outta control? Why?

It was sprinkling in San Diego somewhat last night and the roads were wet but I hadn't drive my car in a while so I wanted to feel the power of VTEC again. I was at a stop light, didn't do anything crazy, shifted first gear a 4k RPM and i slowly let the RPM's go to VTEC in 2nd gear. I didn't mash on the pedal or anything like that, but a nice, slow and easy road to VTEC. Anyways, it was a two lane on ramp to the freeway, I had both hands on the wheel, and then between 7-8k, the car starts to shake to the left and right. I let off the gas and held onto the wheel to maintain control and it settled down.

Nothing happened but I was just wondering why that happened? It was a straight line, didn't floor the car or nothing. I have new Yoko ES100's which have about 1k mile on them so its not the s02 problem people talk about. Any ideas? Thanks.

Just a guess, it hadn't rained in awhile and the on-ramp was a fairly smooth surface. Water and road grime/oil don't mix well.

You may want to check your tire pressure as well.

UMMM... am I missing something?

you vtec'ed on a turn, in a low gear, and the road was wet, right?

why WOULDN'T the car get out of control? the only thing missing from this oversteer mishap was some bald s-02's and maybe a few cocktails.

He doesn't have S-02s, he has Yoko ES100's with 1k on them.

VTEC in low gears + rain + smooth pavement = rear tires breaking loose......GUARANTEED.

Believe it or not, the s2000 does have some torque. Most of it is produced in high rpm vtec.

I've had a similar experience. Just take it easy when the roads are wet.
