Is there an airbag switch so we can use a child seat in the front? Or does the 05's have the new smart airbag for front seat passengers.

 

Don't you read your owners manual? There is no airbag switch. You could rig one up (and a few people have) but those solutions tend to throw the SRS code and diasable your whole airbag system from time to time.

Also, the owners manual highly recommends that kids should not be driven in the S2000 at all. Sure, you could ignore this advice, but it's the life of your kid you are playing with.

Anybody younger than 30. At least, that's how it seems to me, these days.

 

On topic, though, I suppose it would be anyone who would not be recommended to ride in the front seat of a normal car. I'm not up on the current recommendations for that sort of thing, because I don't have any children.

 

Here in GA a child must ride in a car seat until they are 12 years old or weigh 70 pounds.

 

That seems to be the consensus on Google. Kids (12 or under) should not ride in the front seat, and that means they should not ride in the S2000. Unusually large kids would be an exception, because the belts would fit them properly.

This isn't the best car to own if you have a family, unless you have other cars in the garage to choose from.

 

Also, if you read the owners' manual for your car seat, I'm sure it says not to put the car seat in the front seat of ANY car.

 

Acutally there is a specific honda part that you can get to do disable the airbag. I believe you can get it for free from a Honda dealer including install. I think they are required by law to provide a passenger air bag disable switch if you requests it. Now that doesn't mean that you should have kids in the car, but the honda switch won't compromise the SRS system.

 

That's wrong that you can't put a child seat in the front seat. I had an SLK and Mercedes offers a special child seat that disabled the airbag, and you could drive around in it. My daughter loved it. And it was automatic, the seat had a transponder that communicated with the car.
