Default Car Spun Out Hit a Curb...

Hey guys, I needed some help. My car spun after leaving from a stop light (making a left) I didn't take the turn too hard staying in first gear. The rear pops loose (just like an amatuer driver) I spin out and hit the curb. Here's the thing the wheel (unit rotors and all) are disconnected from the joint (shock) after the accident i get out and i hear the gas leaking from the shocks and a horrid smell. The tow truck driver tells me not to worry because it's a honda defect? From the impact the wheel should be popped in not out? anyone? thanks. I'm in SD need a place to take it... thinking of Honda dealer or somewhere else?

Im sorry but sound like its your fault. Never heard of anything like this ever happen to the S2K. Its really easy to spin out during hard turn in these RWD and if you dont know what you are doing shiet can happen. You probably broke the control arm and knocked all your suppension components out of place when the car hit the sidewall.

I would take it to Honda Dealer and hope its a Honda Defects. Good luck and hope she will be back on the road soon.

did you make any sudden throttle, brake, steering inputs? did you hit a a spot on the road with little traction? Rear end popping loose sounds like you floored it and lost traction?

If you're implying that the suspension arm was what caused the accident, rather than the accident breaking it I think you're onto a loser. Hitting the curb will have broken the damper. I've lost the back in similar circumstances but was fortunate enough to regain control without hitting anything - the cause was cold tyres and a heavy right foot. I was shocked at how easily it happened, so much that I spent the rest of the journey wondering if I had imagined it!

To all you former Civic SI, Integra and assorted FWD sporty car drivers: You cannot, repeat cannot stab at the controls in this car and expect to stay out of the ditch for very long.

A powerful RWD car requires smooth, deliberate inputs. Additionally, panic reactions (jumping off the gas / jumping on the brakes) that serve you fairly well in a FWD car will reward you with insurance claims in this car.

If you too cheap to take a driving school (which will not be far from the sum of your collision deductible and your premium increase), do some auto crossing or track days. Besides being very fun, you

one week per thousand in damages is the estimate I was given. It should take less time though.
