Default Car Stolen. Immobilizer Chip Didn't Help?

My co-worker's car was stolen out of our parking lot yesterday morning . My S2000 was parked right behind his car when his car was jacked!

It was a Blue 2005 RSX Type-S, low miles, nice condition. We think his car was targeted for the parts. Guess the engine is a good mod for an old Civic.

I thought the Imobilizer chip is supposed to prevent this from happening! Has anyone read how thieves get around the chip? Obviously the chip didn't help.

We have a surveillance camera in that parking lot so I'm curious to see what was caught on camera.

Sorry to say but immobilzers do not help. My friend was able to take my car without any problems. Literally, it was "Gone in 60 seconds!" Check out this thread that I posted last week:

Thanks for the link, I saw your thread a while back but wondered *in general* how thieves bypass the immobilizer chip. Seems like it isn't that hard.

Someone at work told me about a GPS device (not Lojack) you can put in your car that can be tracked. In that case you could just call the cops and have them pick up the thief.

Someone posted a pic of a theft recovery that looked like the immobilizer was just yanked from the engine.
