Default Carbon Fiber or Aluminum HARDTOP?

I have a Berlina Black S2K and was interested in a Hardtop... Was wondering if anyone had the Mugen Carbon Fiber top and how it fit and looked? Or maybe the "Hardtop Guys"... recommendations? Thanks, CFL

I don't own a hard top (I don't even own an s2000 yet but thats comes in the next month). However i have done extensive searching on this....i've never seen the mugen carbon fiber, but i have seen the mugen regular hardtop...it's the exact same just painted and not CF. I personally love it...i'm ordering the regular one with my car (it's cheaper than the OEM hard top from kingsports...i got a quote of 3200 for the OEM from a local dealer). I would love to get the CF top but i don't have the bones for it after i shell out the taxes and the sticker. I love how the top rolls back and smooths out the lines (i've heard it improves the drag coefficient...but don't know for sure)

my personal taste... CF + black = NO!!! i think it looks ugly and dirty... same with black wheels.

id say go OEM... looks cleaner plus Hardtopguy is GREAT to deal with. what he says is 110% correct. cant find a new one cheaper...

Out of curiosity, what is the weight difference between the CF hardtop and the OEM? If I recall, the OEM is only about 40 pounds. I'm sure the Mugen CF top doesn't have lining like the OEM does so you may be dealing with some noise resonnation issues.

Now, if a lined Mugen CF top weighed 15 pounds then I could see the advantage to it and I'd get one and paint match it to the vehicle. I don't like the CF look on any color.

A variety of reasons

1) Not everyone wants to put the top down every day. I sure as hell don't.
2) Some of us drive it in rainy or snowy weather and a hardtop gives the car a toastier feeling inside and is a bit more "liveable"
3) etc
