Default Carbon fiber driveshaft

Does anyone know if a carbon fiber driveshaft is available? And if they are available does this save any of the HP lost from the flywheel to the wheels? Just curious if this would help any.

Cause any xtra HP I can find will be welcome with open arms

Don't know of one for this car. Don't think it would improve power transfer if it were. I think it is more related to weight savings........

It is currently available for the S2000 on Gran Tursimo 3, car felt "virtually" same after I installed it.

Good thing about CF shaft is that if it fails, it fragments into a million tiny pieces, whereas a steel shaft can either go through the footwell into your leg (ouch) or can act as a pogo stick on the road (not good). Honestly the S2000 doesn't make enough torque for this to happen.

Weight savings, particularly as it is rotating mass, is the real big benefit of CF for us. I don't know what sort of U-joint our prop shaft uses so I don't know how tough it would be to get one made. I know that ACPT in SoCal does lots of CF shafts, custom and off-the-shelf. It would be around $700-$800 to have one made, provided they are given a stock shaft to examine and disassemble. That's assuming of course that the joints can be reused easily.

I remember seeing dyno results on a z28 a long time ago. the Carbon Fiber driveshaft saved 10lbs of rotating weight, and it translated to almost 10hp at the wheels. It used aluminum yokes. I saw it in "high-tech" magazine, and it is a mod that is more popular amound f-body drivers. The same company custom builds driveshafts per order. But I have a feeling that our stock piece doesn't weigh much to begin with. I've been thinking of the same idea lately.

Is there actually enough interest? Reason I ask is because I am in contact with ACPT(not directly). If there are interest, we could get some made, price will probably be anywhere from $700-$900, just depends.

Does anyone have a spare shaft laying around?
