Default Carbon Fiber Hood Question

I have the Mugen Style Carbon hood from SEIBON. IT is the one with the vents. My question is every time i take my car to the carwash or when it rains (like today) i Tape over the wholes the day before so water doesnt go inside. Does anyone have the hood and does water going in damage anything? answers plz. Thx thx. I feel like it can damage if it were left out in the rain uncovered. Thx thx.

The water won't hurt anything, it just might make your engine area messy with water-spots. Try to keep tons of water from falling on electrical devices though...

You get more water spraying up from underneath the car when you drive in the rain.

Automatic carwashes can dammage the seals on your softop though, so I would avoid THAT.

When I wash my car, I place towels over the vents to keep water out, just so I don't have to detail the engine bay so often.

Read your owner's manual. It tells you NOT to take your car through an automatic carwash. The softop, the thingy above your head, has rubber seals around the top of the windshield frame and the windows and high pressure water forced up under them will allow water into the cabin (on you.) Doing this often will cause dammage and the top will leak.

The tape doesn't hurt anything, but doesn't really help anything either. If you place the tape over the top of the vent you could damage the clearcoat finish on the hood.

Don't get your engine wet. It might shrink down to a 1.8L.

Well, the Grand Canyon was formed by constant contact with water so eventually water would eat through your paint, sheet metal, and the rest of the car. It might take a while though.

The answer to your question depends on which intake you have. The AEM intake for example could cause problems with water no matter which hood you have. Anything with an exposed filter could be a problem. It all depends.

There was a member who drew each of the side view pics for the specific member who is sporting the pic. He did one of each color and is not doing any more.
