Has anyone gotten their s2000 appraised at carmax in the last month? I want to see the trade-in on my car but there is no carmax close to me. I heard they generally give trade-in on KBB but lately they've been givng lower due to the slowing market. Does anyone have any recent experience?

 

Not Carmax, but I did ask my local Honda dealership out of curiosity. They initially quoted me KBB trade in (~$15k) but when I pushed the sales guy said they could probably go as high as $18k on my car (clean, low miles, needs tires) if I was trading up. If you traded in to CarMax, you'd probably be offered around $15k today. Private party, 04-05 S2000s are generally going for $21-23k.

 

Wouldnt you feel better about yourself if you were to say sell an 05 (that you would get 15k for if you sold it to carmax) to some one here for 16 or 15. It would go very quickly its not like you would be waiting around for the cash. I would feel ripped off if i sold it to carmax cause i wanted quick cash. But if i sold it to some one on here i would feel good because i gave some one a good deal and i got my quick cash.

 

I wouldn't feel good about that - an 05 can easily go for over $20k private party.
