I've had my S2000 since March with no complaints. However, the carpet on the ridge on the driver's side is already tearing. I put my foot there when I get into the car and I can't figure a better way to get in the car.

Has anyone else experienced this?

My floor mat is also fraying. I've never had this problem in another car so soon.

Should this be covered under warranty?

I'm seeing the same problem myself. The red carpet seems to be especially prone to fraying and pilling.

Somebody should make a longer floor mat to cover-up the entire floor area, including the structural ridge.

Hint, hint, Rick

3 piece floor mats are made to cover that ridge. There have been group buys on these. I have the 3 piece mats from Germany with "S2K" stitched on the part that covers the ridge.

This is a group buy in progress for mats that do exactly what you want. Greg is running it.

I'm seeing the same wear pattern on the passenger side hump. Although the passenger seat is normally empty, riders with shorter legs seem to hit that ridge every time. Watch out for the dreaded scratches on the outer door jambs as well. If you don't pick up your feet the slim moldings offer little protection. Miata owners can purchase a door-sill plate that covers the vulnerable spots.
