I am suprised that no one has commented yet on the statement that came out of Honda Europe yesterday. It was on one of the other boards and it took me about an hour to actually find the story. Apparently the 1-2 grind is actually caused by the extra weight of the titanium shift knob. I thought that this was pretty far-fetched until I read the story and remembered in the past that with other cars sometimes being warned not to rest your arm on the shifter because it might damage the transmission. Anyway, according to Honda spokeman Lirpa Sloof(the spelling may be wrong) the car was designed with the lighter aluminum shifter. The marketing people came up with the titanium idea without consulting the engineers. The titanium shift knob "weighs several grams more than its aluminum counterpart and can introduce a 3rd degree harmonic distortion that has actually strained the stack tolerances of many S2000 transmissions." Anyway he said that a service bulletin went out about the problem several months ago and that all titanium shift knobs should be returned to the dealer for a refund.

...and I fixed my persistant grind, not with the TSB, but by installing the light-weight voodoo knob!

Very good JPit. Reminds me of that story Sports Illustrated did way back when about the baseball pitcher who could throw a 112 MPH fastball. The whole thing was a very elaborate April Fool's day gag that fooled millions of people...
