I'm not positive but it just sounds like the dealer did not reset it. My Acura's cel came on at 7500 mile intervals, 7500, 15000, 22500...ect.

"Maintenance Required Light" comes on at prescribed intervals and is a reminder to do stuff like oil changes. This can be reset by the owner and is usually ignored since most people do routine maintenance by their own schedules.
The CEL (Check Engine Light) is an indication of a MALFUNCTION. It can be as simple as not putting on your gas cap correctly to something to do with a sensor not being happy. This light should NOT be reset till the owner finds out what is wrong.

OK, as I said, this is only a reminder of what Honda thinks is needed at those standardized intervals. If you do your own schedule, which most of us does, then you simply reset the light yourself. You can find out how to do this both in the "library" and in your owner's manual.
ps. My maintenance light just started blinking today and in a very short time it will be on continuously. I do my own schedule and will just turn it off when I have some time.
