I read on one of the forsale threads that the coating on the 00-03 center console can be removed which leaves a gunmetal look. Is this true? Has anyone tried this and how can it be done?? Any help is appreciated as always!

A couple years back there was a thread about using alcohol to remove the coating.

 

In 00-01 the trim around only the shifter was painted metal and looks cool when removed with acetone. In 02 they changed it to plastic and if you remove it , it will look like crap. I speak from finding out the hard way on an 02. I had to buy a carbon fiber dash kit to cover up the crappiness.
