Default Certified 2002

Local Honda has a certified 2002 for $29000 before title & tags. Looks perfect,
drives like a dream and has 8K miles. They put all new rubber on today, its first day on the market. Seems pricey to me but what do you guys think? How much would you bid ? Thanks!

I think $27k or $28k is a reasonable price. It even has new rubbers all around and only 8000 miles. My 2003 which I got brand new has 5000 miles. If I was looking for a used s2000 and they offer $27k for the one you found, I think I'd take it in a heartbeat, and will prolly take it for $28k too. Not to say $29k is a rip off, but after tax tags and etc, final price is gonna be $30k some dollars and I'd rather get a brand new 2003 for little bit more.

If you cant decide if $29k is a good price and the dealer isn't willing to come down on price, why dont u just get a brand new 2003? You should be able to get a new 2003 for around $31,500, give or take few hundred bucks.

31.5 for a 03? is that right? I bought my 03 about 4 months ago and I paid under 30k before tax and licensing. The 04's are almost out and prices are dropping on all car models so why get a used one dat mite have been abused?

It all depends if color is a priority which was in my case I bought a 02 certified with 23,500 miles for 26K out the door for 28K Black ext. Black int. really a pretty car I had to have Black so in my opinion I got a fair deal if color does not matter then you can probably get a better price depends on area. They are selling for 3K above MSRP in NorCal new.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know how much the Honda certification adds to the price of a car?

Kellyvu,

I'm guessing $1500-2000 more due to it being certified. It's certified and under warranty for 100,000 miles right? Still a little high priced though. I just paid 26,500 for an 02 with 11,000 miles. And it included a 100,000mile warranty and other accessories.

Marcus--Honda runs x-number of checks and inspections and if the car passes they extend the powertrain coverage from 3 years and 36K miles to 7 years and 100K miles and adds one year from 3 to 4 on non-powertrain equipment coverage.

A good buy for you Markk. The dealership I went to today didn't even have any new S2ks. Said their next delivery would be the '04 at the end of October. Not much to choose from here.
