Default Cf heat shield why?

Can i ask why some people replace the heat shield black one between the battery and exhaust manifold with a cf one? Isint the one from factory made of aluminum and dosent aluminum absorb heat better than cf?

i've never heard of anyone doing that, but yeah, aluminum absorbs heat like it was its job, and it is its job in cars, i dont know why you would want to even change it for cf..

It's a heat transfer thing. Metals are good conductors of heat, which means that it will "absorb" heat quickly, but will also re-radiate/transmit that heat out of the other side quickly too. Carbon fiber is a poor conductor of heat, so will keep the battery (or whatever) cooler for longer than the aluminum shield. Presumably, you don't want to battery to get really hot ( ), so a CF heat shield is "better." Generally speaking though, I think it's an appearance thing. It'd be more useful to have a CF shield between the engine block and the air intake...but even that is of minimal usefulness, I believe.

Are you taking about the Rick's carbon fiber heat sheild? If so, it doesn't replace the stock one between the engine and battery, rather it attaches between the engine and intake. There's nothing there stock, so this gives a bit of a cusion between the heat of the engine and the temp of the air the intake is sucking in.

I've never heard of anyone replacing the heat sheild you're taking about.

Wait a sec, where have you seen people put CF heatshield in place of the metal exhaust shield??

I've never seen it done either, but the question is still valid, as there is an aluminum heat shield between the engine and the battery. The only aftermarket heat shield I've seen is Rick's, which goes between the air intake and the engine block as someone else has already stated. The same question (and answer) applies in either case.
