change a flat?
Right or wrong, did not look at the owner's manual.
Driving the S means you know it is sensative to tire pressure , while coming home on a hot afternoon yesterday, in the mid 80's I found the car seemed to wonder a bit when shifting and on the straights. I pulled over to find a nice large silver screw in my left rear and 10 lbs of air per my tire gauge.
I have an old pair of leather gloves and a garbage bag on hand, I pull out the never used spare (there was only 15 lbs in that...it worked but check you spare tire pressure before you need it), jack and tools. The jack is remarkably easy to use, however the little handle deal to work it takes practice. Nuts off with lock, off comes the tire, on goes the spare. i thought long and hard about pulling off the front tire and putting it on the rear and using the spare for the front, limited slip and all the other issues that could come from a donut tire replacing a 245/45/17, but on went the spare.
The damaged tire does not fit in the truck, no matter what you do....so luckily I was alone, wraped it in the garbage bag which i also used as a matt while sitting on the tarmack. Driving 12miles at 60mph is difficult but I made it...on 15 lbs of air!
Sure I could have called CSAA, I have the card, but I wanted to do this and be on my way, and usually I treat my car better that the tow truck guys tend to. I also wanted the experience just in case I would really be stranded.
the tire place did the fix (tire america has a warranty and it is good), put air in my spare and i was out of these in about an hour.
The tech did not know how to start the car, I have had this at non honda places. the car drew attention from customers who had no idea what it was!

the manual says that you need to take the tool box/cover out, put the flat into the hole that it leaves behind, and then put the tool stuff off to the side of the trunk.
it also states that you should put the good front tire onto the rear, and only put the temporary spare in the front.

There is no way the rear tire fits into that truck....i would like to see it.
. yeah i know about putting the front tire on the rear, but it worked non the less and made for less work. again i did not check the manual.

^The reason it says to do that, is cuz your Torsen rear diff doesnt like un-symetric tires... the Donut is really small, and the front tires is roughly the same diameter as the rear...if the rear tires arent symetrical, its just gonna keep trying to lock up the tires and it means bad news for the torsen!
just fyi. Hope its all good. As for me, I tossed my spare tire - that thing doesnt hold air for crap anyway, its supposed to be at 60psi but whenever you need it ,its always less. I got my dad/friends on my cell and since I help them out, I expect the same in return...
