CHANGE OIL/JACK-UP CAR
I am a new owner of an S2000 (05) and I am just wondering how many of you change your own oil ? What is the best way to jack the car up to do this ? What kind of jacks does everybody use etc. ??? Any suggestions
would be appreciated.
would be appreciated.
Yes it's very easy on this car...
The hardest part is finding a jack that will fit under the clearance of the re-enforced metal frame behind the wheel. The I think the jack that comes wit the car works great but make sure you use jackstands. Have fun
There are posts everywhere on How-To's. Look a the top of the Under the Hood section.

my frame is about 3.75" (i'm lowered about 1.5" ) off the ground and i can get my jack under it by doing nothing more than sliding it under

You will eventually find that trying to get a jack under the front (or rear) to the subframe jacking points is fruitless and do what everyone else does: put the jack under the doors, jack it up, put in jack stands and lower it onto the stands. I realize purist are going to argue otherwise but that's just the way it is. The rail under the door is the frame. It's what everyone does because it's the only practical way to do it, especially if you are lower than stock.

I did not use any jack. I used Mityvac Fluid Extractor 7201 to extract old oil from dipstick tubes of these cars: E430, LS400 and S2000. The easiest is the E430, because it was designed to change oil with vacumm from the dipstick tube. LS400 and S2000 is a little more difficult, because when I inserted the vacumm tube into the dipstick tube, it was hard to know when it hit the bottom of the oil pan. I had to try several times to vacumm all the oil from the oil pan.

Jack points are in the manual.
If you look underneath the car behind the front wheel and infront of the rear wheels there are support brackets that hang about 1/2 inch lower than the rest of the frame that are about 4-5 inches in width. These are the jack points.
If you jack from another location you will bend the underside or even worse can possibly go through the floor.
If seen people jack from just about anywhere but the jack points are made to handle the weight and are the safest points on the car.
