Default Changing the rear mufflers/exhausts

Hey guys,

I am thinking of removing the stock MY04 mufflers and getting some aftermarket ones welded on. It is a universal exhaust with 3.5 inch round tip that looks slightly like the 5 Zigen fireball.

I just want to improve the looks and add a slightly more aggressive tone - and all this for under 300 bucks!

I don't want to spend 800+ for systems for just looks, when they don't add much power.

What do you think? Anyone else taken this approach? I feel that if I don't like it I can change it back and haven't lost too much.

Opinions please.

I think its a good idea. I think a few other people have done it. It may or may not sound like you want, but its a cheap alternative. Either way you won't gain much hp if any so might as well save money.

One thing you may want to also look into is removing the resonator from the standard muffler. This won't make a huge difference in sound, but it is also a quick and easy job for any exhaust workshop to do.
You may want to look into this while you get your other muffler attached.

Arfiman1, good to see you on this board!

I see you still go for the principle you explained to me at one autox this year "=> more sound => more speed"

j/k it sounds like a good idea. Who are you buying the mufflers from?

Hey,

Good to see you on this board - haven't in the short time I have been here! And what's more, haven't seen you at the Auto X after that day!

I am buying the mufflers from Ramy Trading - AED 550 for two plus about 300 for fitting.

As I said, don't want to spend tons of money, for this small amount, you can't complain!

Next is the new rims and then some springs/coilovers!

Coming on the 8th?

Sounds like a good deal!

Sorry to hijack your thread, but yes been very busy. No time to race nor surf s2ki.com. I am hoping to be there on the 8th, how abt you?

Re suspension my feeling is (after experiencing Al's 2004 suspension) that I would leave it alone, unless you are lowering it for looks.
