There's a national requirement for oxygenated fuel (previously using MTBE, but due to health concerns it's currently ethanol) - but only in areas with a certain amount of pollution. I don't recall the exact criteria though. Anyway, it's not required across the board, but is dependent upon region.

This is a Federal mandate and all national and international oil companies have to produce that type of blend in the USA. Hurray for the corn flake growers.

I live in Florida and noted in my last fill-up that Citgo now contains 10% ethanol.

I couldn't agree more. Citgo buys all their fuel from Venzuela - who's dictator want the US in ruins.

I am in Texas and use Valero.

I believe Walmart uses Murphy Oil from Arkansas.

Venzuela owns the Citgo brand, which used to be City Service. The stations and localy owned, but all the products are produced
in Venzuela. I would never buy Citgo gas.

ethanol is not bad for your car in any way it will actually clean your engine. i took automotive classes and my teacher taught on this subject. a car running pure ethanol will tend to run an additional 100,000 miles longer. i look for ethanol pumps.

ethanol / alcohol is very corrosive to bare metal parts.

Was your teacher a member of the corn lobby by chance?

If anyone does run ethanol laced gasoline routinely, do you have any comments on the effect with your car?
It's all you can get around here (and has been that way for years). No CEL's.
