I read in an earlier post that some people just wash with warm water and hand dry. I've been doing this and maybe I'm crazy but it looks like my top is fading. It isn't that deep black that it once was. I bought brand new about 2 months ago.

Are there any products out there to treat the fabric and keep looking showroom new??

 

I am about to try out some Porsche top cleaner and sealer. I will try to post back on my results/opinions after I use it.

 

The Porsche top cleaner is pretty good, but my detailer uses steam to clean the top and it is GREAT. Keeps the top looks brand new, restores that original "blackness".

 

Mine looked like it was fading only after 2 months, but truth is it was just dirty since rinsing won't really remove it. So I got some porsche cleaner, a brush, and 303 Fabric protector... now it's good as new. I recommend it.

I'm sure the Porsche stuff is excellent, but I use the Mother's top cleaner for soft tops that yields excellent results, as well.

The best part is that it's a lot less expensive than the Porsche stuff, it's readily available in your local large chain auto parts haus and it's easy to use. Just spray the stuff on a wet top and use a soft handheld brush and rub it around the top and then rinse thoroughly.

I used the stuff that Greg uses until I ran out.
Then I used the Porsche stuff. I forgot how black the top
was. And the water beads up like crazy.
The Mothers stuff works great for your normal washing but
I will use the Porsche stuff like once a year. Great stuff.
Cleaner and sealer, it is expensive.

 

So where do you get the "porsche stuff?"

I ordered some stuff from them including the Porsche top cleaner and protector. Haven't gotten around to using it yet, though.

 

I am getting very good results with Ragg Topp Cleaner and Ragg Topp Protectant. The protectant definitely restores the deep black look, and the cleaner can be used with or without water (great for the winter). You can get it at http://www.autofanatics.com (car care corner).
