Installed the European clearcorners yesterday with the able assistance of my neighbor, the Acura specialist. This is not a job for someone with little mechanical experience, and there are some parts of the operation that are pretty delicate (threading the very expensive HID bulb with its ground shield into the new headlamp, for example). And some parts require an assitant (removing the bumper, for example). To top it off, it started to rain mid way through the job (we were doing it outside).

Here are some pictures and pointers. You may also want to review this thread by Shaner, whose posts helped me sort all this out: http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=8848

Left headlight removed:

Here are the key parts of the job. The gray box is the HID power transformer, which has to be removed from the stock lamp and installed on the new. The high beam lamp from stock unit (in its stock mount) connects in the connector slot circled at the top left. That's my neighbor, Nick Alban, pointing to the cover on the HID connector. It has to be removed to install the stock HID lamp and transformer. To the left of his finger, just below the circled high beam lamp connection slot, is the adjuster for HID and high beam height. This was provided by Giampiero of MG Racing, and you must have it to do this job (otherwise the lamp assemblies flop around in the mechanism and you can't adjust them). The big circle at the lower right marks the connector slot for the turn signal bulb. The bulb mount from the stock headlight does not fit, but we used some good old heavy duty super glue and accelerator to attach it, with no problem. The smaller circle in the lower left marks where the parking lamp bulb mount goes (the stock mount fits with no trouble).

Probably the trickiest part is threading the braided grounding and power cable and the HID bulb (look at the size of that thing) into the new headlamp. It's tricky because you can't touch the bulb with your finger or you'll ruin it; it's also is easy to break.

After the HID lamp is installed, you bolt the transformer onto the new unit.

Before reinstalling the new clearconer assemblies, we turned on all the lamps and checked to see that they worked.
Here they are installed, just before we cranked the car up to go to the Acura shop to check the headlamp alignment. They were aimed way too high, but with the MG Racing-supplied adjuster, they were easy to adjust, following the directions for the proper height that are in the Helm manual. The adjuster was relatively easy to access and with about 5 turns we had them at the right height.

Some more picture of the clear corners on my car.

I had all the lamps on for these last two shots, which give the parking lamp the yellow hue. I now have a white turn signal indicator, illegal I think, and with no front license plate, I'm a candidate for a citation, for sure.

Great pics! Interesting to see the lamp assembly, those HIDs are a completely different species compared to regular H4s...

I'm glad I already have clear corners, it looks much cleaner.

The Swedish police are not at all impressed with missing front license plates, otherwise I would really like to get rid of mine too.

All that work will make you appreciate it all the more. I too have a silver and agree the clear corners truly do look much, much better. The unnecessary third amber color detracts from the lines. I have more performance orientated mods to complete, but will eventually have to join you in JDM world. LOOKS GREAT!!!

The red badges were from RM Racing. They'll be replaced with the new S badges at Asheville this week.

Wow...They look real good on the silver car. BTW, you didn't get a ticket for parking on the lawn, did you?

Rick,

Do you make the logo inside the grill? How is it installed?

Thanks!

So now you can help us all with the install for a few brewskies and Bar-B-Q? Looks excellent man.
