I received clear side markers from Japan (MLS) that are a perfect fit. I don't like them and will not be installing them.

They are bigger and protude even more than stock. The clear side markers on the S2000 are a POS in my opinion. Honda cut corners in here.

Look at the side markers for the accord. They look much nicer and close to the body. In fact I will be getting a clear pair and will try to adapt (they do not fit as standard). Will let you know the result.

In an effort to save many thousand words, here are some pictures...

1. Side shot of inexpensive clear reflector, installed. Funny how they reflect the flash :

2. Comparison of factory to cheapo clear:

3. You need to remove this metal clip and re-shape it to get the cheap clear ones to fit at all. I used two pairs of needle-nose pliers.

4. The modified clip still could use more work to eliminate this gap. Without modifying the clip, the gap is about 1/4":

The carparts # was 40.2502.SM, $18.99 & shipping.

pfb,

When I read one of your earlier posts about the carparts.com version not fitting, you had me running scared. $25 isn't a lot, but it's STILL a waste of perfectly good cash if the final product is useless.

BUT, now that your last post describes/shows how the fixture can be modified to fit perfectly, I'm feeling a little more relaxed.

I thought the amber lens itself was replaced, not the whole module, so I understand the $20 price tag now. How do you get it out? Does it just take a gentle pry with a covered screwdriver? And is the connection a simple connector swap, or do I have to cut the wires? Also, in what manner did you modify the clip itself?

Thanks for the great pics, BTW.

You had me running scared!
I like things to fit, and don't really like bending stuff with pliers to make it fit. I guess it worked out in the end, however.

How do you get it out?
Slide the whole assembly towards the front with your fingers and lift the rear edge out. No screwdrivers!

Is the connection a simple connector swap?
The connector is a standard push and lock molex-type connector. Don't cut any wires!

In what manner did you modify the clip?
You need to make the clip longer, so you straighten out some of the bends. Trial and error.

I picked up a 92-96 civic side markers from a local shop. Look on the outside exactly the same!(exactly!)

Fit: Had to bend the metal clip to make it longer but this thing wont move at all now!(thought if I had to I could take it out)

Cost: $20 bucks.
Quality: Low. Had to mess with the light inside to make the wires hit correctly so the bulb would light up.
Happy factor: ***** 5 stars

I really like the looks of this side marker.

Anyone wants to swap a set of these for a set of genuine european honda wheel locks? See http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...hp?threadid=304 for more information(I am in Portugal and will not be practical for me to order from carparts.)

F**K! I broke the metal tab while trying to bend it back into shape, and so far, a 30 minute attempt at making a new one out of some sheet brass I had in my junk drawer has failed.

I only bought these things because I thought they were the only ones around...now that I know better I'm kicking myself for not buying a direct replacement <grrrrr>

I WILL get it EVENTUALLY!

I too installed the 'flat' side markers - I just liked them better. But I did not have to take out the metal to make them fit. I just fiddled around with it until they went in. Guess I was lucky!
Luis, will they not ship them to you? If not, I could help you out - I ordered two pairs by mistake and they are just sitting in my garage. I would be willing to trade. (just email me)
