Default Cleared Headlights - Anyone Done in Austin Area?

Has anyone in Austin cleared their headlights or is there anyone that considers themselves strong at doing this in the Austin Texas area?

I'm looking at getting the diffusers from Rick's and would prefer:

Not to pay or wait for shipping (I don't want to be without my car for 1 week+ while waiting for say Rick's!)

Someone who is confident they can do this (done it before with no issues (moisture etc.)).

I am willing to pay (reasonable) for the services and would very much appreciate it (also willing to help out in any way I can with the work itself, just don't want to mess up my brand new ride!).

Thanks in advance!!

Lots of the Houston members have done it. All with great results. If you want to drive out here I could help you do it. I have done a number of installs.

Hell Rick if you're in Houston I may just order em from your site and then either send em to you or drive out...I just don't know how much I trust those damn monkeys at UPS

Let me know when you might be able to do this (thinking a weekend) so I can decide if I should drive up or just UPS em.

Are the instructions you provide for pulling off the housings easy to follow?

Shipping a set of headlights via FedEx ground is the best option. They ship for less then 20 each way. So for 40 in Gas you just might want to drive and do it while you wait. As for when, that depends on which diffuser you want installed, send me an e-mail ClearLens@Houston.rr.com and we will see what we can work out.

Hi AustinS2k2003,

I live in Austin, and just cleared my headlights this weekend with the help of Austin_S2000 (you might have infringed on his copyrighted name ). It was easier than first thought, from taking the lights out, to sealing them was about 2.5 hours. I let them seal overnight, and it only takes about 30 mins to put them back in, so its about a 3 hour job (and it was my first time doing it). You really need an assistant, and you need to really put some strength into pulling the lights apart (the glue in the lights is really sticky)

This is a Do-it-yourself project, its not that bad.

Remember to get replacement bulbs (if you want to still have an amber blinker) and a tube of RTV silicone sealant. I am not too concerned with them leaking, since there is so much glue in the lights in the first place, and adding more RTV is almost overkill.

If you want to see the finished product, just give me a PM. If I'm free one of these weekends, I'll help you out. BTW- I have a Black/Black and put in JDM clears, it looks sharp.
