Thumbs up Clicking Noise From Rear

Sup fellas

I have an MY02 S2000. It is about 2 months old. Whenever I engage into first gear, I hear a clicking sound from the back. It happens sometimes. I am just wondering if the sound is normal. If not, I am going to get it checked out. Plus I have on 18" BBS rims. Could this be causing it?

Thanks

is it just one time when you engage first gear, or does it continually do it when in gear (and maybe the sound of the engine + road noise drowns it out when in higher gears)? if it is continual, then that might be what happened to me a month ago...i had to get the differential replaced. if it just happens once...then i'd like to find out what that is, because my car also has the same symptom. i'm hoping it'll go away when i change the transmission fluid, but i'm guessing it wont.

1. Axle nut re-torque TSB
2. Shifting brake pads
3. Differential

My car is in the shop for this right now. I read another really long thread about this same problem. Here's what I gleaned from the 14 page thread:

To solve clicking noise: remove axle nut, grease nut and axle, retorque axle nut down to 220 ft/lbs

To solve shaking that sometimes comes if you let the "clicking" go on for too long: replace CV joint (I can't remember whether it's usually the inner or outer joint?)
