Now that I've been doing more driving with the top up I've noticed an annoying clicking sound coming from my top. It sounds like it's coming from the cross bar directly above my head. I've greased all the seals, but don't know if it's even possible (or worthwhile) to grease this crossbar, since it's covered by a fabric sleeve.
Any suggestions--besides just revving higher?

 

Check the plates on the header, the ones that the top latches hook to. Mine worked loose. Or get the heavier duty plates that come with the hard top. I think there's a TSB on this and you can get them replaced free.

 

My car is a 2002, so I suspect it already has the heavier plates. Also, the sound really seems to be coming from the cross bar, not the plates.

 

I hear that sound too, and it does sound like the cross bars. It started right after the 5500 mile mark. It comes and goes though, so it doesn't annoy me too much.
