Clock report. Speakers? Pop up boot? Key chain remotes?

I buy the car tomorrow but I sat in it on my too short lunch break today. The clock is on the right side of the radio/cd display and is innocuous and hidden when the radio door is shut.

The speakers sounded fine to me today playing Trisha Yearwood and traveling at zero mph indoors. I was surprised they weren't as bad as everyone said. Of course, there was no road noise, just uuuuuuuhhh's and aaaaaaaaaahhhh's from everyone in the showroom. Maybe I'll stay stock a bit. I wonder if anyone has checked to see if they maybe even upgraded the speakers a bit for '01.

I've got the Honda alarm installed and the salesman showed me that you can open the trunk from the alarm thingie on your key chain. I didn't know about that. Does the standard (non-alarm) thingie do the same? I feel dumb about this but remember, this is my first new car since my '93 Prelude.

Is there any reason why I want the standard key chain thingie in addition to the alarm keychain thingie?

I too thought the sound system was fine until I drove the car for about a day with the top down. Trust me it stinks.

Barry, The stock speakers are indeed junk. A new set of speakers is something you can add to your Christmas wish list. Also the standard factory remote has a trunk release.

Have fun and remember no VTEC for a while!

Barry, I guess I'm just an ignorant country boy, because I can't find much fault with the radio either. When I was the age of most of the members on this forum we had an AM radio and were glad to get it. Welcome to the club, my man!

Welcome.

W/O the stock alarm you can remotely control the doors and trunk.

I don't think that the stock alarm remote is any different than the one you use for the alarm. If you were to get an aftermarket alarm then you would need a new remote.

Relying on the horn. Any alarm is a bit of overkill in Sheridan, Wyoming; and I'll be storing the car securely most of the time.

I did get the bonnet sensor and it works!

All I want to hear is two liters at nine grand. No speakers on earth can match that symphony.

Don't throw away the other remotes. You can sell them to a CRV LX owner (see HA net Board). The standard CRV does not come with remote unlocking, but has the receiver built in and only needs the remotes to set it up. List on those remotes (that you could sell) is around $80.
