Thumbs down Close Call

I was out last night driving with my cousin and decided to show him the handling around a turn. There was a little bit of moisture on the road and I didn't even think about it and took the turn in 3rd at about 45 or so. I fished the rear end out and luckily caught it and straighted it out. I feel like such an idiot and I'm embarassed now. Has this ever happened to anyone? I will definitely take it easy for a while.

Against my better judgement, I'm going to move this to S2000 Talk, where it belongs.

To answer your question: yes, it's happened to many many people before. You will find hundreds of threads on the topic if you looks around. This car handles great, but it will bite if you're not prepared for it. Just be glad you managed to recover it. Many people have not.

Anyway, welcome to the board. Drive safe.

Happened to me, but I didn't have a lot of room.

Taking a declining-radius offramp a bit too fast for all-season tires out back, the rear swung out then caught traction and snapped the other direction (didn't let off to cause the spin). It wouldn't have been so bad but there was a concrete wall on each side of the two-lane road. Luckily I hit nothing after doing a 765*. Engine stalled and it took me a minute to start her back up with traffic coming - that was just as embarrassing as the spin!

no reason to be embarrased...you did the right thing to recover.

countless people here have spun out by lifting their foot or braking.

My rear breaks loose fairly often, but I know when to expect it and know what to do. It's usually about 10 degrees spin (which happens to be what I wanted anyway!!).
