Default Clutch burn/stink

I wonder why the high revs of my S2000 on launch results in frying of the clutch when same or more revs on my GS-R doesn't. I flog the Integra much more than the S. The first time I tried to light em up the clutch barely caught. What a stink. I of course have since learned all the nifty tricks found on this board (it's been a year). Not very easy to light up the tires. I feel sorry for the demo model given to the writers. No wonder Honda took the cars back and destroyed it.

Improper launching will result in slipping and burning of the clutch. You must release the clutch quickly in order to avoid this. But, then, you already know that if you've been here for a year.

Gotta say I don't do it much these days. Afraid to leave parts behind after a 8000 rpm drop. That's why I kept the Integra. (I guess the michigan snow & ice had some role in that decision)

I'd say probably a little too much clutch.. but I wouldn't release it too quickly either.. I was taught never to release the clutch pedal in a hurried and abrubt manner but rather in a more fluid motion.. ??

But check the flywheel and other tranny if you feel this is a prob?

practice makes better..

It's a truly learned technique. We all talk about dumping the clutch from high rpm's but the "feel" of it is so much more complicated. My personal technique involves a high rpm clutch dump via sidestepping while feathering the throttle at the right instant when the clutch engages and punching it. But in all honesty, it's a must if you're going to drag race the car.

Don't do it if you don't have to ... That's the bottom line. I don't drag race my car and most certainly no doubt I don't want to be doing a high rev clutch dump and screw it up.

Nobody else here said this yet -- the GSR is FWD with an open diff. I know, I had one. It is soooo easy to spin those tires on the GSR (even in turns). So the S2K hooks up MUCH better (RWD, big tires, Torsen LSD) so it is harder to 'light them up.'
