my car is going to be comptech s/c soon.
im getting an extra s/c with the deal. im going to try to sell it for $1000.
that means, i'll have $1000 to put back into the car.
i want to get a clutch before i get my rear dif. because i think i can baby the differential until christmas time when i get a new one.
im looking to get a clutch flywheel combo.
1. whats a good package? i was thinking act 6 puck and a toda flywheel...
2. should i get the clutch before the differential? whats more likely to go? i have ~30k miles on an ap2, with the cdv removed for about 8k miles.
I have the Exedy Hyper single, it comes complete with a light flywheel. It took a little getting use to but I like it
The thing grabs hard and it's peddle feel is a little more stiff than stock.
Cons:
It's a bit tricky feather reverse and she will chatter a bit when you do.
My good friend Dave and my self on the install at his place
my wife and Flat Stanly helped out too
the stuff on hardtopguy, i found much cheaper elsewhere.
where can you pick up the exedy for under $1000? is it worth using the stock flywheel? i heard ours is heavy.
I have been very happy with the ACT HD pressure plate, stock disk and resurfaced OEM fly wheel. The weight of a fly wheel helps keep things rotating and can simulate torque. A lightened flywheel may get you to rev faster but this car already revs fast enough. What it needs it a bit of bite which the increased clamping pressure of the ACT PP provides and the weight of the flywheel help keep that rotational mass moving. With 4.77 gears and this setup launching is FUN.

I got it off the For Sale forum from a member that did not get to install it, it was new in the box still the for sale forum
I got new bearings from Hard Top Guy, he had the best price on them
Jeff is a great guy and will give you some good advice on this subject.
If you like a slightly aggressive clutch the Exedy is great, if you are looking for a bit more daily driver friendly set up a ClutchMaster PP or ACT with the OEM disk works very well. As for a light flywheel, I like a steel one. Comptech and Centerforce make them. The Comptech would be my first choice.
