Default Clutch Installation Cost

AS the title states I'm getting my Exedy Hyper Single Clutch Installed. My mechanic told me its going to take roughly 7-8 hours and it'll be about 550-650 price wise. Does that seem a little steep or is it just me?

that does seem a bit steep.

7-8 hours for a shop nawwww

i mean ive seen a shop swap a motor in an hour. so id say 3 hours tops worth of labor.

id say....300-400 (which is what i paid for mine. but that was with an AWD car which i think is more complicated.)

it's not high for labor

we swapped out the transfer case, clutch and tranny in an AWD dsm in no time, it's just as easy as FWD honda tranny.

most of the RWD front motor will have to remove abunch of crap, and in this case with our car, you need to drop the motor a little.

If you don't like his price, find a cheaper place or do it yourself.

3 around here quoted me 6-9 hours of labor with the same price you listed. they say it's harder on the S2000 because you have to remove a bunch of crap so you can lean the motor back so you can get to the bolts on the top of the tranny. if you want it cheaper try to find someone who can do it through your local forum.

All Data calls for 8 hours to swap the clutch in the S2000. I took me and a friend 6 1/2 to do my clutch, flywheel and bearings.

The cheapest shop in my area charges $110 / hr. for labor and a disk and plate will run at least $300 That would be $1180

Modesto Honda wants $1400 to do a clutch.

Don't take the word of people that have never had their clutch replaced in the S2000, they seem to think that since it is a rear wheel drive car that that makes it easy! Not the case. It is one of the most labor intensive clutch jobs out there

But don't take my word.... PM Billman 250. He is the S2000 mechanic extraordinare!
