Default Clutch out

This is my first post and I am a bit worried about protocol etc but here goes.

I was driving around in a great looking Spider and despite its ability to collect water every time it rained and spending over 180days at the local dealer in 3 years I really liked it.

But then I was driving down the road and in a Honda dealership I saw a sports car called S2000, never seen one before, said to my girlfriend "do you like that" she said "yes" , went in the next day and bought it - I am so happy now, especially when it rains.

I went back to the dealership (Mays in Dorking) cos there was a strange vibrating sound occurring on changedown and they advised that it needs a new clutch. (2 days)

My question to fellow members is; is there anything else that should be replaced under warranty? and if so why is there not a section in this site that details necessary modifications that can be achieved FOC from Honda.

Also - do S2000 owners flash each other on passing?

Check the Library, the Honda Technical Service Bulletins are located there. Yours in particular would be TSB-054. Make sure your dealer orders the latest clucth disc. The part number ends in -055.

Here is the link to the library or you can click on library above

SilverSurfer:

This guy is in the UK which has a different set of TSBs.

The ones in the US only work for dealers in the US.

I don't know what the UK has for bulletins. The clutch buzz is a well known situation and it sounds like the dealer is going to replace it.

Does this site have TSBs for different countries? cthree?

HTH,

Woodwork

Fox, you may not appreciate the significance, but you are to be congratulated -- your very first post drew a response from one of our most valued (and least-often seen) members: Woodwork! (Search for his other posts and you'll see why.)

I think you have nothing to worry about as far as board etiquette...

Cheers and welcome,
John

The UK doesn't run precisely the same bulletin system as the US.
There has been one small recall for early cars - a modifcation to a seat belt part.
And there is a new recommended chassis alignment for cars up to MY2002. But this is just a recommendation - you don't have to run the new specs.

There's an active and friendly UK community, based over in the UK Forum. Pop in and say hi

Anyway, welcome to the board

-Brian.

Hi Fox

I am impressed - I agonised over buying my S2000 for nearly a year (ideal car for man with wife and 2 kids ). Anyhow, welcome to the boards - as Brian says, pop down to the UK boards, its a friendly, occasionally informative, sort of place.

I flash and wave to other S2000's - mind you, it is a very rare occurance to pass an S2000 in the UK (unless you livin in Fleet where it appeares to be the most common car on the road!).

I live in in West Sussex, but drive up too Croydon each day to work so I may see you around.

If you are interested 'meets' various scales are organised - the organisation of the mother of all meets (in the UK at least) is currently well under way - what you doing May 11/12th??? You would be most welcome.

Oh yes.....your original question - probably answered already - but a little local experience - I use Geo Collins Honda in Hailsham - they are replacing my clutch under warranty the week after next (make sure the part No. you get fitted ends in 055).

Give me a shout if you need any help / advice

Ian
