Default clutch question

Is the clutch catching point similar to an 03/02 accord or more like an rsx type s?

?

Honestly I believe it varies from car to car - even side by side S2000's I've felt different engagement points.

The clutch engagement point is completely adjustable at the pedal. The clutch pedal travel can also be adjusted. My '02 clutch was very different from my friend's '02.

So is the engagement point on the s2k near full release or half way point?

To repeat what Gernby said, it's different on every car, even two from the same model year. The clutch pedal has threaded adjusters on it for both engagement point and pedal height, so no two pedals will engage at the same place. It's easy to adjust, but awkward to get your head down under the dash to see what you're doing. And because it's a hydraulic clutch, the pedal engagement point won't change as the clutch wears.

The clutch pedal button / switch serves as a bump stop for the clutch pedal assembly. If memory serves, this switch is located directly above the pedal, where your toes would be. This switch can be screwed further in or out of its bracket to change the pedal height (and travel). This adjustment will not have any effect on the engagement point (from the floor).

The clutch master cylinder is actuated by a pushrod that is attached to the clutch pedal, and travels straight through the firewall. This pushrod can be screwed further in / out of its bracket to change the engagement point.

Both the switch and pushrod are held in place by a locknut.

When my car was new, there was a couple inches of play in the clutch pedal, and the engagement point was almost at the floor. This caused lots of problems for me, since I had to be very carefull to push the clutch pedal ALL THE WAY to the floor before shifting. I was getting lots of gear grinds, so I decided to remove the free play at the top of the clutch stroke, which raised my engagement point well away from the floor. My shifting (grinding) was GREATLY improved.

probable stupid question:

IF the gears don't grind, and the clutch is only depressed 2-4" max...then am I fully engaging the clutch, or do I have incredible (lucky) timing?
I find that I can engage the clutch with very little depression (maybe 1/3 of total possible travel). No grinds. I try to minimize clutch wear, so I don't want to stress the clutch excessively.
