I find it really depends on the driver. Some people can be fast on the OEM suspension but some drivers are just better than others. (no pun intended)

For example, michael schumacher on stock suspension must be faster than anyone of us here running motons.

I tracked with the stock for about 10 track sessions. For me personally, switching to coilovers made me much faster by a couple seconds in a relatively small track.

I run spoon suspension btw. I tried the KW before but didnt like it as much.

But is a couple of seconds worth the significant negatives for street use? That's why I asked "better for what"? For "street and track", it hard to beat the OEMs and you definitely can't beat the price (already on the car!). I ran my OEMs for three years "street and track". Only when I changed to "track only" did I change the suspension.

actually, surprisingly, my spoon suspnesion with 12/14k springs are the same if not softer than stock on the softest setting. Dont ask me why, because i find it to be weird too!

Either way, I agree that stock is the cheapest way to go, and in the end it is really up to the hobbyist to decide what he/she wants.

i think u shud take the current OEM to the track first, and see how they feel...and what your driving style/preference is
this will let u get an idea of what you want, and u have the OEM settings to work from.
no pt spending money on something and end up not liking it

and BKL is hardcore, dun listen to him unless you are too
j/k

Just buy a pair of used OEM and run lowering springs. Cheapest that way if you dont intend to track.

amuse coilover is non adjustable and very expensive. Thats all i know about them.

OK, if you have to replace them anyway, then that changes the equation a little. On the other hand, if you were really just looking for lowering the car you should have said so.

Really, it sounds like S2000 Talk is the forum you want to be asking this question in.
